Our online course meets the mandatory safeguarding training requirements for those working with adults at risk. This course has been endorsed by the Jersey Safeguarding Partnership Board and updated to reflect process changes which came into force in 2021.

On successful completion of the course, learners will gain an official Jersey Safeguarding Partnership Board certificate.

Who Is This Course For?

 Anyone who has a responsibility for safeguarding vulnerable adults in their paid or voluntary role.

This course has been updated to reflect the changes in safeguarding practice in Jersey, which came into force on 1st February 2021.

Learning Outcomes

  • Define the term ‘Adult at Risk’ in relation to Adult Safeguarding and the criteria required to make a Safeguarding Enquiry
  • Explain how the Safeguarding Adults procedure supports ‘Making Safeguarding Personal’
  • List the 5 principles of Capacity as outlined in the Self- Determination and Capacity Law (2016)
  • List the 12 categories of abuse as well as their signs and indicators
  • Identify at least 5 barriers that can prevent the effective safeguarding of an adult at risk
  • Know when and to whom suspected abuse should be reported

  • Assessment

    You must gain a minimum of 75% in the end of module assessments in order to gain your certificate for this course. You can attempt the assessments as many times as you would like.

The Safeguarding Partnership Board’s role is to  co-ordinate work locally which will safeguard children and adults and to monitor and challenge the effectiveness of Jersey’s safeguarding arrangements.
