Safeguarding
Our online course meets the mandatory safeguarding training requirements for those working with children. This course has been endorsed by the Jersey Safeguarding Partnership Board.

On successful completion of the course, learners will gain an official Jersey Safeguarding Partnership Board certificate.

The course covers the theoretical requirements for standard 11 of the Care Certificate and is CSTF aligned.

Who Is This Course For?

 Anyone who has a responsibility for safeguarding children in their paid or voluntary role.

If you need Adult Safeguarding training, we recommend our Safeguarding (Adults at Risk) - Making Safeguarding Personal course.

Note: This course does not cover the level of training required to meet the training requirements for CEYS (Jersey) Registered Settings. Please contact CEYS directly for training meeting these specifications.

  • Define the terms ‘Safeguarding’ and ‘Child Protection’
  • Recognise the ways in which society’s beliefs, values and attitudes, procedures and laws towards children and child abuse have changed over time
  • List the four main categories of abuse as well as their signs and indicators, and identify current and emerging risks
  • Identify at least 5 barriers that may prevent the effective safeguarding of children and young people
  • Respond effectively to concerns about the safety and welfare of a child/young person following their own organisation and SPB policy and procedures

  • Assessment

    You must gain a minimum of 75% in the end of module assessments in order to gain your certificate for this course. You can attempt the assessments as many times as you would like.

     PDF Reader: Some of our courses come with PDFs and Word documents for download. You need to ensure that you have a PDF reader and word processor on your device to access these documents if you would like to download them.

The Safeguarding Partnership Board’s role is to  co-ordinate work locally which will safeguard children and adults and to monitor and challenge the effectiveness of Jersey’s safeguarding arrangements.
